Configuring a Network Server:
 
Steps to Configure a Network Server for EXPRESSfit®:
  1. Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager application: Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager.
    This application was installed as part of the EXPRESSfit® Standalone Network Server installation.
  2. In the list on the left side of the screen, select “SQL Server 2005 Services”.
  3. In the list on the right side of the screen, make sure the state of the “SQL Server Browser” is listed as “Running”.
    If the state is “Stopped”, do the following:
  4. Double-click the “SQL Server Browser” item.
  5. Click the “Service” tab.
  6. Set the “Start Mode” property to “Automatic”.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Right-click the “SQL Server Browser” item and select “Start”.
  9. In the list on the left side of the screen, select “SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration”.
  10. In the list on the right side of the screen, double-click “Protocols for SONICI”.
  11. Right-click the “Named Pipes” item and select “Enable”.
    Click “OK” in the Warning screen that appears.
  12. Right-click the “TCP/IP” item and select “Enable”.
    Click “OK” in the Warning screen that appears.
  13. In the list on the left side of the screen, select “SQL Native Client Configuration”.
  14. In the list on the right side of the screen, double-click “Client Protocols”.
  15. Right-click the “TCP/IP” item and select “Enable”.
  16. Right-click the “Named Pipes” item and select “Enable”.
  17. In the list on the left side of the screen, select “SQL Server 2005 Services”.
  18. In the list on the right side of the screen, right-click “SQL Server (SONICI)” and select “Restart”.
  19. Close the SQL Server Configuration Manager application.
Notes:
